Adobe patches Flash bugs

2008/05/30

A warning which was sounded after attackers had targeted the Adobe Flash Player by setting up thousands of web pages laden with malware has been lowered after the flaw had been patched by the firm.

Security researchers Symantec, who uncovered the attacks found that an old version of the Flash Player had been targeted, brought down its ThreatCon rating after reassessing the vulnerability.

David Leno of Adobe's Product Security Incident Response Team commented: "Thanks to Symantec for working very closely with us over the last two days to confirm that this is not a zero-day issue, and to Mark Dowd and wushi for originally reporting this issue."

The firm has advised users of the flash player to upgrade to its newest version, with users of more than one browser advised to perform checks on all of the browsers they use.

Last month, Adobe patched seven bugs in the Flash Player, which one hacker won $5,000 for uncovering at a security conference.
