Analysing website performance 'can increase online revenue' | | 2008/09/23 | | Online retailers can boost sales by integrating analytics software into their websites, an industry expert has claimed.
A greater understanding of how customers use and respond to a company's website can have a positive impact on revenue, according to Harry Spellar, web analytics manager for tourist website VisitBritain.
He reports that the site has shown a growth in sales following an increase in the use of analytics website monitoring, which can be used to improve reliability for consumers.
Earlier this month, Linda Sheetz of PRstore in Newport Beach told Hit Search that during the current economic downturn online retailers have a better chance of reaching out to consumers than 'bricks-and-mortar' outlets.
Factors such as high fuel costs may deter some consumers, who respond well to the ease of use and relative convenience of shopping at home via the internet, she noted.
This news comes on the back of suggestions by Mark Simpson of Maxymiser that increased website efficiency can help firms protect themselves against the current economic downturn.
On his blog he commented on the importance of determining a site's success among consumers and making appropriate changes, which may prove to be cost-effective in improving performance. |
