Apple concedes mistakes after outage | | 2008/08/06 | | The launch of Apple's MobileMe should not have coincided with that of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 2.0 Software, the company's boss has admitted.
An email distributed to employees conceded that more testing should have been undertaken before the service was introduced in order to prevent problems such as the initial downtime, according to Macworld.
Chief executive officer of Apple Steve Jobs explained that head of iTunes Eddy Cue would now oversee the operation to ensure outages do not occur again.
Mr Jobs said that the introduction could and should have been delayed, adding: "The MobileMe launch clearly demonstrates that we have more to learn about Internet services. And learn we will."
Thousands of MobileMe customers were prevented from accessing email accounts for 11 days when problems struck the service, while ten per cent of all messages received between July 16th and 18th permanently lost.
