Apple releases server security updates | | 2008/05/22 | | Apple has announced the release of updates for the server versions of Mac OS X Tiger (10.4. x) and Leopard (10.5.x).
The move comes after the latest findings of OS X flaws, said to be software hazards such as buffer overruns and openings for the injections of malicious code into unpatched systems.
Among the vulnerabilities not fully detailed by Apple are reported to be gaps where remote attackers could execute arbitrary codes on the affected system, reports News OXY.
The technology news provider revealed: "One of the more interesting fixes involves a cross-realm authentication issue with AFP Server. In this flaw, attackers may be able to create unauthorized connections to the server."
Meanwhile, according to Computer World, Core Security Technologies has detailed three bugs in Apple's iCal programme which had the potential for exploitation by attackers using compromised servers. The firm had become frustrated with delays in Apple's patching of the bugs.
