Bank of America site suffers downtime | | 2010/02/02 | | The website for the Bank of America (BOA) has suffered downtime, with visitors experiencing a long load time and then receiving a message saying "Page not available".
A representative from the bank said that the company ruled out a cyber attack as the cause, as was speculated online.
The organisation is now working with its partners to discover what the reason behind the outage was and why the site was unloadable.
According to comments left on The Business Insider site, users of the company's site were still able to use its applications for mobile banking on devices such as iPhones and Blackberries.
On the BOA official account, the company posted: "Our website is available. However, some customers are having intermittent issues with access. We are working to determine the root cause."
Similar incidents have occurred in September 2008, April 2007 and February 2001, when the website mysteriously went down.
Users of the site reported they were experiencing problems during the BOA's downtime. However, when website monitoring systems are put in place issues are detected as soon as they arise.
The organisation has recently been named as the most valuable US banking brand in The Banker magazine and Brand Finance's Global Top 500 list.
