BBC News website suffers outage | | 2009/06/12 | | The BBC News website suffered a 20-minute outage on Wednesday during which it offered only limited functionality and even went down completely, it has been reported.
In news that may be of relevant to companies interested in website monitoring services, the news site was affected between 12:20 and 12:40 BST, ZDNet reports.
A spokesperson for the BBC told the news provider that the site had been having "technical problems this morning" due to "network problems with the London hosting centre".
In response to the outage, the BBC's news editor Steve Herrmann posted a blog post on the site that read: "People had problems getting onto the BBC News website a little while ago.
"We think we've tracked it down to a problem with our network and the problem should now be fixed. Let us know if it's not."
Last month, headline search engine Google News suffered a serious outage, which left millions of people unable to access its services.
