Brown wants all public services online by 2014 | | 2009/12/09 | | Prime minister Gordon Brown has announced that he wants all public services to go online by 2014.
The Putting the Frontline First report explains how the government hopes service will be improved and staff will be more free to deal with individuals if all services are put online.
Other measures announced that it is hoped will save money and improve efficiency when using technology included increased access to public data.
When launching the report Mr Brown said in his speech that within the next five years the government will shift the great majority of its "large transactional services to become online only".
Mr Brown hopes that £3 billion additional savings along with the £9 billion savings outlined in this year's budget will be made by following the measures.
A Digital Britain Roadmap will be announced by the end of 2010 explaining how services such as job seekers allowance, student loans and child tax credits will be making the move online.
With important public services preparing to move online by 2014 website monitoring services would be invaluable to ensure any glitches with the sites are spotted as soon as possible. |
