Business continuity planning 'vital for all firms' | | 2009/11/03 | | All firms including those based online - should ensure they conduct business continuity planning, it has been suggested.
According to Mark Teter, chief technology officer at the Advanced Systems Group, it is too late to act once a disaster has occurred, potentially highlighting the benefits of website monitoring services.
Writing for Computer Technology Review, he claimed that continuity planning is a "serious enterprise business planning initiative" on which the very survival of an organisation rides.
"Senior management and employees must be involved and committed to the plan," he commented.
Mr Teter said that while disaster recovery is an enterprise responsibility, it remains IT's role to make sure every business application has a viable disaster recovery plan in place.
Last month, a study conducted by broadbandchoices.co.uk indicated that web consumers are more concerned about reliability than any other aspect of their internet service.
Some 32 per cent said reliability is the key issue for them more so than speed of connection or value for money meaning website monitoring may be increasingly important. |
