Canadian city's website target of hacking activity | | 2010/05/12 | |
The website of one Canadian city has recently been affected by the work of hackers, it has been revealed, which may encourage other organisations to adopt website monitoring services.
CBC News has reported that the City of Prince Albert site needed attention after it became a victim of hacking activity.
During the incident, people trying to gain access to the website were redirected elsewhere, after seeing a picture of Turkey's founder.
Speaking to the news provider, the city's IT department manager Neil Barnes noted the ongoing risks that hackers pose.
He stated: "We're at risk for [some] months until we get the security patch in."
The effects of the hacking incident that affected the City of Prince Albert website were speedily dealt with once they were spotted.
When it comes to internet security, individual computer users were recently warned by Rik Ferguson, senior security advisor at Trend Micro, about the dangers that email spam can pose when they are making use of the internet. |
