Companies must 'protect themselves by reducing downtime' | | 2009/09/09 | |
With businesses becoming more information orientated it is more vital than ever that they protect themselves from unwanted, and often unnecessary, downtime, it has been claimed.
According to new research from the Aberdeen Group, implementing the correct technologies such as website monitoring services is vital if firms want to avoid their systems crashing, which can potentially cause a loss of revenue.
Jeffrey DeBarros, senior research analyst at the Aberdeen Group, said: "Companies must protect their brand, their information technology support processes, and their employee productivity to maximise performance."
"Companies can focus on improving how data is utilised to prevent, identify and resolve performance problems within a company's network or applications infrastructure," he added.
Meanwhile, research from the Information Technology Intelligence Corporation showed that if firms can afford it, the best way to boost uptime and improve network reliability is to buy more expensive equipment.
Laura DiDio, who set up ITIC, told the Register that expensive equipment is like having a "master craftsman build something for you or a Grade-A mechanic fixing you car". |
