Customers 'struggle' to access HSBC online banking | | 2009/06/29 | | Banking giant HSBC is reportedly suffering disruption to its online banking services today (June 29th), after it was claimed an outage on Friday left customers unable to access their accounts.
In news that may interest firms looking to install website monitoring services, the Register reports that it has received posts from disgruntled users who find themselves 'locked out' of the service.
One user wrote: "Despite the boffins at HSBC knowing of connection issues on Friday and having had all weekend to scratch their heads, nothing seems to have been done. Monday morning, same old problem."
A spokeswoman for HSBC told the news provider that the bank was having "intermittent issues" with online banking, but that the problem should now be resolved.
Rival banking firm Barclays also suffered an outage several weeks ago, which it said was caused by a "disc array".
The problem left customers unable to access their accounts for several hours.
