eBay the latest site to suffer technical problems | | 2009/11/24 | | Online auction site eBay has apologised to users after a technical problem led to it returning limited or no results during Saturday November 21st.
The site experienced technical problems throughout the day, with full service only resuming in the early hours of Sunday morning.
An eBay spokesperson said the firm's "number one priority" was to identify the cause of the outage and restore full search functionality, although he shed no light on whether website monitoring services had been in use at the time of the problems.
He stated: "We know this is a really busy time for sellers as you are ramping up your businesses for the holiday season, and we regret any potential impact that this technical issue may have had.
"We will continue to keep you informed of site performance. Our immediate priority is to resolve this issue."
The spokesperson said eBay would be issuing full credits for affected listings.
A recent HBOS website outage, which also affected the banking group's cashpoints, highlighted the benefits of web page monitoring. |
