Employers could look to social network sites | | 2008/06/23 | | Employers seeking out graduates to fill vacancies could turn to popular social networking sites in order to identify suitable candidates, according to one expert.
Jayne Rowley, publishing director for Graduate Prospects - a student recruitment specialist - is in no doubt the current generation of Bebo, MySpace and Facebook users will be at home communicating with prospective employers through the medium provided by social networking sites.
She said: "Networking is also a very useful source of leads for jobs.
"As the social networks extend their reach in to professional areas, the Facebook generation will feel entirely comfortable engaging with employers in this way in the future."
Ms Rowley went on to say that the internet can serve as a useful point of information and contact for university-leavers looking for jobs: "The more resources a graduate can identify, the more choice they are giving themselves."
