Hold the back page: Czech Republic win Euro 2008 | | 2008/07/07 | | In a website competition run in parallel with Euro 2008, Czech Republic picked up the Euro 2008 trophy after beating France convincingly in the final with a score of 23.79 seconds.
There was a serious side to the exercise as the importance of application management was demonstrated.
Each national "team" was made up of their country's European Football Association website and two top supporting sports websites.
HP Software as a Service (SaaS) monitored the sites for their speed, performance and responsiveness during the actual tournament while the virtual nations competed in 90-minute battles.
The challenges that a website faces and the importance of employing a comprehensive application management strategy were highlighted by the web monitoring exercise.
Response times between the participating websites averaged in the range of 0.5 to four seconds and at the end of each game, aggregate response times were measured and the nation with the lowest aggregate time was decided the winner.
Croatia, however, didn't live up to their national team's actual impressive performance by trailing the field with an aggregate of 313.45 seconds for the tournament. |
