HSBC open to phishing scams | | 2008/06/26 | | Possible mechanisms which would allow hackers to create phishing scams could be left open by scripting flaws on several HSBC websites.
The international bank was found to be one of the organisations affected in a list of domain names posted on one security blog, according to reports.
Problems the bank was alerted to in May have still not been resolved - not the first security issue the financial services provider has dealt with in recent times.
According to John Leyden of the Regsiter: "The problem is the latest security-related calamity to befall HSBC."
He continued: "Previous pratfalls have included losing a server containing transaction data on 159,000 Hong Kong-based account holders during renovation work back in May."
The Hong Kong customer data loss is currently being investigated.
