Internet marketing can be vital for SMEs, says expert | | 2008/05/01 | | Maintaining a high profile presence on the internet can be a fruitful exercise for small businesses, according to one expert.
Managing director of small business support organisation the Startup Co, John de Groot, has highlighted the value of an internet page for businesses, depending on their nature.
He said a website can help with "providing information as an online business card, [which can be] useful, or increasing the profile or credibility of the business, which is very important".
"It can illustrate achievements, clients, partners, awards, editorial, opinion, etc," Mr de Groot continued.
Figures released last month by the Internet Advertising Bureau found that in UK online advertising, paid search marketing grew by 39 per cent year-on-year to £1.6 billion.
Further statistics show that there was a total of £2.016 billion spent on online advertising in the UK during 2006 with the internet accounting for 11.4 per cent of all advertising revenue in the country.
