IT security expert in virtual server advice | | 2008/05/13 | | Firms deploying software using virtual machines should strive to ensure all the necessary controls are in place before implementation, according to one IT security expert.
Director of information security at US-based Standard Insurance, Paul Love, has told Australia MIS Magazine that some vital steps are often overlooked during the processes involving virtual servers.
He said: "With virtual machines, it's very helpful to pay attention to the actual configuration of the system.
"You need to really have a stable build so that when you deploy a thousand versions of it, they all meet management's requirements for what controls should be in place."
Mr Love went to recommend companies seek expert guidance in securing virtual server environments.
Meanwhile, US firm Apani has developed a cross-platform server isolation system which aims to help corporations to protect servers, endpoints and business-critical data.
