LINX suffers second outage | | 2008/06/05 | | The London Internet Exchange (LINX) suffered a second outage last week, with a line card problem being blamed for disruption to the service.
LINX, a non-profit organisation which provides peering connections for UK Internet Service Providers, also experienced difficulties in April and early May, reports the Register.
According to the technology news provider, LINX said in a statement: "Yesterday evening we did experience a recurrence of one of the faults from the previous week.
"Our engineers, working alongside those from our vendor, implemented an alternate configuration returning the affected parts of our network to full service."
LINX comprises over 280 members and 575 connected member ports, its internet exchange points (IXP) allow network service providers (NSPs) to exchange their traffic.
The exchange of traffic between networks at an IXP is commonly known as peering, a system which improves performance and cuts cost for web users.
