Man Utd website sees huge growth in traffic | | 2008/06/11 | | The number of people that visited the website of Manchester United during May soared to 5.4 million as the Premier League giants celebrated a successful climax to the season both on and off the pitch.
Figures for the site's total unique users broke the previous month's record high as the club attracted new fans through their Chinese, Japanese and Korean language pages.
IMG Media are currently responsible for managing Manchester United's site, which is seeing traffic treble every two years.
Patrick McNerney, senior vice president of IMG, said: "For more than 10 years, IMG has provided Manchester United digital solutions, in which time Manchester United have constantly strived to push the digital boundaries whilst remaining loyal and relevant to their audience."
Mark Hargreaves, general manager, Manchester United Interactive added: "There has been a real team effort both on and off the pitch in which editorial, design and hosting teams have all played a key role in delivering great content to our fans."
Manchester United won the Champions League on May 22nd after beating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after a tense 1-1 draw.
