New Gmail account problems | | 2009/03/10 | | Users of Gmail have been faced with new difficulties accessing their inboxes this week.
After Google's email service was subject last month to a website outage which can sometimes be avoided with the use of a website monitoring service now the problem lies with reading messages.
A group of users are reported to have had problems with logging on to their accounts once the Gmail homepage appears.
A Google spokesman said in a statement: "We're aware of a problem with Gmail affecting a small subset of users.
"The affected users are having difficulty accessing their accounts. The team is working as quickly as they can to resolve the problem."
In February, a Gmail website crash left millions of email account holders without access to their emails.
Although the cause of the initial outage was said to be a technical error, high volumes of traffic can sometimes lead to website crashes as was the case with the Transport for London homepage this year and can be dealt with by adequate website load testing services.
