Older IT users 'require technical assistance' | | 2009/10/07 | |
The majority of people aged over 50 need help with their computing when technical problems arise, it has been reported.
According to consumer group Which?, while many older people are now more confident using IT, they require assistance with issues such as viruses, computers crashing and online security.
For small businesses attempting to drive revenue through a website, a lack of technical understanding could potentially prove problematic in the event of an outage, highlighting the benefits of web monitoring services.
A spokesperson for Which? said that when things are going well, older people feel really confident with their IT systems, but if something goes wrong they do not know where to turn.
He added: "You can go on computer courses and learn to word process, but you're not told about all the error messages that can pop up that can throw a spanner into the works."
According to broadbandchoices.co.uk, web consumers are more concerned about reliability than any other aspect of their internet service. |
