Online bingo appealing to younger age group | | 2008/06/30 | | Bingo, a game previously reserved for retired women with free time on their hands, has won over a new generation of players thanks to the internet, according to one industry head.
Managing director of BingoPort.co.uk, Scott Logan, has highlighted the changing demographic in the blossoming online bingo community and pointed out that the social element which is prevalent at many bingo halls can be seen online too.
He said: "There is still a very strong social aspect to online bingo - in fact, any operator will tell you that the core of their site is their customer facing chat hosts, who run the bingo chat and serve to build customer loyalty through the online community."
Results from the Office for National Statistic' 2007 poll showed that 16 to 44 year olds use the internet the more than any other age group.
Figures published by Gamcare ireveal 14.5 per cent of all gambling in 2006 was conducted online.
