Online striptease causes website crash | | 2009/06/24 | | Website monitoring services could have come to the aid of adult retailer Ann Summers, after an influx of web traffic trying to view an online striptease cause the site to crash.
The outage occurred when a surge of users tried to access the striptease as part of a promotion to sell its Rampant Rabbit range of vibrators, Brand Republic reports.
It features a Brazilian stripper called Roberto dancing to cheesy music dressed as a US Marine.
Visitors to the site were also offered a ten per cent discount on the rabbits, which Ann Summers said may have contributed to the large number of visitors that crashed the site.
A spokesman told the magazine: "It's unfortunate that the site's server crashed. We found it hard to keep up with the sheer volume of people visiting."
Earlier this month, fashion fans hoping to get their hands on items from Liam Gallagher's new clothing range crashed its website soon after launch.
