TechRadar has named eight "alternative browsers" that home internet surfers and businesses should consider.
Kirix Strata has been recommended for those working online, while xB Browser can give users anonymity as they navigate the web.
According to the publication: "Some browsers excel in areas such as standards compliance, which is ideal if you're developing a site. Or if you're into social networking, there are browsers built around that.
"When you're clued up about the pros and cons of different browsers, picking which to use in a given situation becomes a necessary skill."
Rory Cellan-Jones of the BBC recently reported that Modzilla's Firefox browser is making "serious headway" in competition with Microsoft's rival Internet Explorer offering.
