Public showing more caution when buying online | | 2008/07/14 | | Figures released in a survey by online payments firm, PayPoint.net have shown that online shoppers are being much more security conscious when buying products on the net.
The poll showed that 98 per cent of shoppers look for some level of secure payment system before they buy, reports computerweekly.com.
Some of the more user-friendly websites have been found to require less scrutiny as 79 per cent of shoppers are lulled by clear instructions and easy payment procedures.
But small businesses unscrupulous or not have the toughest job when it comes to online operations with just three per cent saying that they trust companies of this size.
However, the overhead view is one of caution with over 90 per cent of web users viewing three or more security features on sites before deciding to pay.
But despite the heightened general security awareness, website monitoring services suggest that as many as 69 per cent could be wooed into spending money with a site that is well-designed. |
