Sainsbury's web site down twice in a month | | 2008/07/07 | | High street giant, Sainsbury's has experienced more problems with its online operation as more than an hour of its web site up time was lost and unavailable to customers last Friday.
The supermarket's site was down from 12:45 until 14:10 during which customers and browsers were unable to access the website's home page at all.
A spokeswoman for the firm explained that a power outage at the company hosting the retailer's web site was being blamed for the glitch.
This is the second occasion within a month that part of the website has been unavailable to customers.
It was reported that the first problem caused an estimated £1.5 million loss of sales revenue and had inconvenienced the processing of some 10,000 orders.
Sainsbury's home delivery business and that of its main web site are hosted by two independently run companies.
