Sidekick sales resume after server problems | | 2009/11/18 | | T-Mobile has resumed selling its Sidekick smartphone, it has been reported.
A huge network outage month caused the telecoms firm to list the product as being out of stock, although it was widely reported that sales had been suspended.
The affected servers were used to store user information, leading to IT security concerns.
Many users were unable to access data stored on their phones for several weeks, although the majority of content has now been returned following server repair work.
A company statement read: "T-Mobile is pleased to announce that Sidekick sales have resumed."
It was not clear whether website monitoring services had been used by the firm at the time of the incident.
Jeffrey DeBarros, senior research analyst at the Aberdeen Group, recently warned companies to protect themselves from unwanted, and often unnecessary, downtime potentially alluding to the use of website monitoring technology. |
