Slow websites add to work stress | | 2008/06/18 | | Internet pages that take a particularly long time to load can contribute to workplace stress, according to experts.
Tim Fairs from technology advice firm The Tech Guys and time-management expert Clare Evans have explained that office tensions can mount when computers fail to work to optimum levels.
"People have got so much to do these days and so little time in which to do it, that its very high pressured generally," explained Ms Evans.
"The added frustration of waiting for your PC to boot up or for a file to download or for a website to load is just adding to that frustration and stress."
Mr Fairs added that carrying out an annual health check on computers can help to identify any problems and ensure programmes run at a healthy speed.
"Just running a health check on an annual basis will mean that your PC is running to its optimum. And that can mean sticking with what youve got, rather than having to change your PC every two or three years."
A recent survey from TheTechGuys revealed that one in five office workers have hit their desks due to frustration over slow-running or inefficient computers.
