T-Mobile Germany's website 'overloaded' | | 2009/04/22 | | T-Mobile Germany's website was reportedly overloaded yesterday following a network crash.
Users flooded the site trying to complain about the national network failure, which left 39 million people unable to use their mobile phones, Bild.com reports.
When users tried to click on the website's "report a problem" button, they received an error message reading "experiencing technical difficulties". It is not known whether T-Mobile was using website monitoring services.
Commenting on the network failure, company spokesperson Marion Kessing said: "The cause of the problem was a mistake in our own software. The Home Location Register (HLR) collapsed."
Service was eventually restored at 19:59 local time almost four hours after problems began.
Gunther Ottendor, the company's technology manager, expressed his regret at the incident and apologised for any convenience caused to customers.
T-Mobile is a major branch of Deutsche Telekom AG, whose subsidiaries and affiliated companies serve over 86 million mobile customers worldwide.
