Times Online a market leader in downtime | | 2008/07/18 | | The results of a new survey measuring the uptime of the world's top news sites were revealed recently.
A web site monitoring service provider announced the results from the first half of the year showing that the Times Online spent a total of 23 hours and 31 minutes in the dark.
Five of the websites recorded less than 60 minutes of downtime but top marks went to forbes.com which maintained 100 percent uptime.
The New York Times and CNN also performed well with nytimes.com spending just 20 minutes offline and cnn.com fared only marginally worse at 25 minutes.
The blushes of the Times Online and ABC News (abc.go.news.com) were saved however, as the longest continuous outage occurred on April 6th when the International Herald Tribune (iht.com) went dark for nearly 11 hours.
The tests were carried out once a minute around the clock checking whether a website failed to respond, took more than 30 seconds to load or flagged up an error.
Any recorded downtime was checked from two different locations to ensure accuracy. |
