Toys R Us misses out on trade due to technical issues | | 2009/12/14 | | Toys R Us' UK site was down for around an hour just before midday on Friday (December 11th) following a technical issue.
The site displayed a message to visitors telling them the website was currently undergoing planned maintenance and apologising for the inconvenience caused.
"There was an issue earlier today for a short period of time. We are currently investigating what happened," a spokesman told Retail Week.
The toy retailer said that the fault with the site was not as a result of it being incapable of handling traffic.
It is likely those visiting the store's site were keen to purchase toys from the Toys R Us Hot Toy List for Christmas, which features items such as Wii Sports Resort for Nintendo Wii and the Disney Princess Just One Kiss Princess Tiana Doll.
With the lead up to Christmas being an important time for all retailers with an online presence, it is all the more important to make sure website monitoring services are in place so that if a technical issue occurs it is picked up straight away. |
