US firms gather at STO conference | | 2008/05/20 | | American companies will listen to experts' views on the future of the shutdowns, turnarounds and outages (STO) industry at an upcoming conference in Indiana.
STO 2008 expects to attract firms from North America and further a field to swap knowledge on the sector, with an emphasis on improving shutdown efficiency and effectiveness.
One corporate reliability manager planning to attend said the occasion would be a productive exercise for members of an industry which looks set to grow.
"Consider your average shutdown, turnaround or outage spending for the next 10 years, and then consider the customer driven content of STO 2008," said Tim Stovall of Nova Chemicals.
"The value of STO is the shared learning's and a networking community which will improve your effectiveness and reduce costs."
Management techniques in the areas of planning, strategy, and execution will also be covered, as a number of different workshops will be run during the event from June 1st to 4th.
