Vispa hit by internet outage

2010/01/12

Internet service provider Vispa has been hit by an internet outage, it has been reported.

According to ISPreview, many of the firm's customers suffered from a number of connectivity and support problems before the weekend, with many unable to connect to Vispa's service and others experiencing low download speeds.

Commenting on the issue, Vispa's commercial director Adam Binks told the news provider that the outage occurred between 01:00 and 12:30 GMT on Friday January 8th.

Speaking on Friday afternoon, shortly after the outage started – something which may have been avoided with the use of website monitoring services – Mr Binks added: "All services have now been restored except for our phone system which has been affected as part of the problem.

"We are currently working with suppliers to have the main numbers diverted to other lines within the office but expect to restore the system by the end of today."

At the end of last year, British Airways' website went down for several hours after bad weather conditions caused flight changes and a spike in internet traffic from people seeking amended travel information.ADNFCR-1362-ID-19553474-ADNFCR
