Web 'has transformed holiday market' | | 2008/07/02 | | The internet has transformed the way in which people find holidays and search for and advertise holiday homes, according to one industry head.
Managing director of Holiday Lettings, Ross Elder, said the web is solely responsible for changing the way people look for accommodation to stay in while away.
He commented: It's made it easier for both the owners to actually showcase their properties and also for the holidaymakers in terms of seeing what they're going to get and being able to search, not just through a catalogue by location."
A Holiday Letting survey recently showed that 72 per cnet of people prefer to book vacations independently and online.
While only 59 per cent are now said to study brochures in order to decide where to go on holiday, 39 per cent now spend over 11 hours online scouring for the best destination for their trip.
