Website crashes as people eager to check lottery results | | 2009/07/21 | | Ohio State University's alumni association's website crashed recently after an overwhelming number of people tried to access it to check the results of the annual football tickets lottery.
According to a report from the Associated Press, the site was down for several hours on Tuesday July 7th because of "server issues" but was back up and running the following day.
It is not known if the site was making use of website monitoring services.
The news provider stated that thousands of individuals logged on to the site to see what game they had been allocated tickets for after they received emails saying they had been given two tickets to one of this season's events.
High demand for tickets has led to websites crashing across the globe this month, with the most notable being the Staples Center in the US.
The stadium's website crashed due to high demand for tickets to Michael Jackson's memorial service.
