Website downtime could 'break a company' | | 2008/08/21 | | Having the appropriate website monitoring and IT support in place during the credit crunch could be crucial to a company's success, one expert has suggested.
Organisations are becoming increasingly aware that having fully functioning systems and websites could be pivotal to their success during times of economic hardship.
Matthew Poyiadgi, vice president of CompTIA, claims that the significance of a technological fault or network failure is piling the pressure on IT support staff.
He told Computing.co.uk: "I think we will see considerable growth in IT support services because businesses can ill afford a serious technology fault.
"Downtime that costs money during testing economic times can break a company before it has time to act."
Meanwhile research by Gartner suggests that global spending on IT support, such as UK website monitoring may exceed £1.8 trillion in 2008 alone.
This reflects growth of around 4.5 per cent in spending on IT services.
