Website testing key to performance | | 2009/02/03 | | Online retailers who do not undergo a sufficiently comprehensive period of website testing prior to the re-launch of an address could be in for a nasty surprise, according to one expert.
Many companies selling goods online will be thinking of redesigning their ecommerce sites for the New Year.
But web testing expert Andy Buchanan has told .Net magazine that substance should come above style, with a smooth-running website more important for internet outlets than an eye-catching lay-out, making web site performance monitoring a must.
He commented: "Although a lot of time and consideration is usually spent on preparing the creative side and content aspects of websites, functionality and web application testing is often neglected.
"This can be an oversight for which a company's reputation may pay dearly."
