Yahoo! board opposition is 'bigger than first thought' | | 2008/08/08 | | The recent re-election of Jerry Yang as chief executive of the board at Yahoo! was cause for concern, when many feared that opposition could have been stronger.
But now eyebrows have been raised again following revelations that those who voted against his return numbered far more than previously thought.
Technical glitches were blamed for the original outcome which pitched 14.6 per cent of the vote against Mr Yang's continuance.
Revised figures have shown that 33.7 per cent was a more accurate depiction, the BBC reports.
After an official complaint was received from Capital Research Global Investors (CRGI) - a major shareholder - that its votes were improperly reflected in the outcome, the voting process had to undergo a review.
Earlier this year, Yahoo!'s board came under fire when a $47.5 billion (£24 billion) bid from Microsoft was turned down, too casually in many investors' opinions, and they are still awaiting the companies strategic ideas on how it will proceed in the near future. |
