This refers to the method by which we notify you when a sensor has reached a certain threshold (i.e. error, escalation or success.).
There are 3 status levels for a sensor:
OK
means up and running
ERROR
means at least 2 requests have failed or were above the timeout threshold
ESCALATION
means the site has been down for longer than the specified ESCALATION threshold
For each transition between these three status types PERISCOPE I.T. can be configured to send a notification.
Communication Channels
PERISCOPE I.T. supports the following types of communication channels:
Email Pager SMS
Clients can use any combination of the above communication channels and can send notifications to as many recipients as they choose .
An example of a configuration could look like this:
Configure the latency for ERROR to 60 seconds
Configure the latency for ESCALATION to 300 seconds
Configure one notification just to send emails
Select this notification for ERROR
Configure a second notification to send email, SMS and pager notifications
Select this notification for ESCALATION
Now if a sensor goes down you will be notified via email about one minute after the sensor goes down. If after five minutes the sensor is still down you will receive a second email plus an SMS and Pager notification.
